Ceremony of conferment of Tsinghua University distinguished visiting professorship on Mr. Brad Smith, the President of Microsoft was held in Tsinghua University. President Qiu Yong and Vice President Yang Bin, together with Dean and Prof. Shen Weixing and Vice Dean Prof. Cui Guobin of Tsinghua Law School attended the ceremony and meeting on July 9, 2018.
On behalf of Tsinghua University, Prof, Shen Weixing introduced Mr. Brad Smith’s achievements and expressed his gratitude towards cooperation programs including Tsinghua-Microsoft Joint Research Center for Innovation and Intellectual Property and Global Innovation eXchange Institute (GIX).
Mr. Brad Smith felt honored to be hired as visiting professor in Tsinghua University, as Tsinghua not only ranks top in China, but also enjoys good international reputation. Mr. Brad Smith is willing to push forward cooperation between Tsinghua University and Microsoft, and make further contribution to the development of China-US relations.
Active in the legal area, Mr. Brad Smith is experienced as a law practitioner. In the meeting after the ceremony, Prof. Shen Weixing briefly introduced the new LL.M program on Computational Law and the Research Institute of Intelligent Rule of Law that is about to be founded. Prof. Shen Weixing talked with Mr. Brad Smith about future cooperation and development on internet and artificial intelligence.
